Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech - High-Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou - Dades Valley

Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Riad/hotel in Marrakech at 07:30 am. We will embark on an interesting journey down to the desert of Erg Chebbi while exploring its highlights. We will begin with a drive through the High-Atlas Mountains that stand like a wall dividing Morocco into two entitites. We will include many short breaks for taking memorable pictures as the views are irresistible. If you wish, we many want to visit a women Argan Cooperative where you can learn about how the process of making Argan oil is taking place.

After crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m), we will have a guided walking tour of the dramatic Ait Benhaddou Village. This striking village is listed by the UNESCO as a world heritage site and has been used as a backdrop for shooting many national and international movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and much more.

We will continue our journey, after lunch, to the Dades Valley while driving through the valley of the Roses where we may want to include a visit to learn about their produce..

Day 2: Dades Valley - Todra Gorge - Erfoud - Merzouga Desert

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in the Dades Valley, we will continue on the track to the Sahara desert of Erg Chebbi. En route, we will make a visit to the impressive Todra Gorge (Canyon), which is a high-cliff that has been an attraction to mountain climbers as well as to the locals seeking cooler weather when it gets boiling in the region. You may want to stretch your legs by the ever-flowing river before resuming our drive further south.

Crossing the city of Erfoud, which is famous for the fossil factories and dates market, we will reach the majestic desert of Erg Chebbi. Now, it is time to have a camel ride experience while enjoying the sunset view. We will serve you a delicious meal for dinner followed by a time of entertainment before closing the day with either a short walk in the tranquil desert or have a nice sleep in your private tent.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert - Alnif - Zagora

We will wake you up early today by inviting you to enjoy the miraculous view of the sunrise over the majestic sand dune field of Erg Chebbi. The sunlight keeps the color of the sand dunes changing throughout the day. Have a refreshing breakfast under the sunlight or inside our tented restaurant before getting ready to resume our 4 days Marrakech desert tour.

We will drive through Alnif by the impressive Anti-Atlas Mountains before entering the palm valley of Draa with its millions of palm trees. The Draa Valley used to play a major role as a main route for the caravans that used to traverse the Sahara desert from Marrakech to Timboctou for 52 days.

Day 4: Zagora - Ouarzazate - High Atlas - Marrakech

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, we will drive back to Marrakech crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains with its strangely looking geological formations. We may want to include a visit to the Taorirt Kasbah that is located in the heart of Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa). En route, the Atlas Film Studios that have given the region a worldwide fame can be seen from afar with the possibility to visit them.

We will cross the High-Atlas Mountains before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

The desert trip is not suitable for pregnant & wheelchair users
Please note the road can be blocked during the winter due to the snowfall or heavy rains, as a result, taking another route through Agadir is the main alternative. We highly recommend not to book the desert trip if your flight is scheduled for the next day.
Please note we will drop you off in your hotel but if it happens you are staying in a Riad within the walls of the Medina that is inaccessible to the car, we will liaise with your Riad staff members to escort you so that you can avoid the hassle.
