Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech - High-Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou - Zagora

Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Riad/hotel in Marrakech at 07:30 am. You will cross the spectacular high-Atlas Mountains that offer stunning views with its snow-capped peaks during most of the winter season. Many short breaks for taking memorable shots will be included along the way. Drive through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) before reaching the impressive Ait Ben Haddou Ville where you will have an interesting guided walking tour.

Ait Ben Haddou is a UNESCO-listed heritage world site consisting of numerous Kasbahs (fortresses) that stand as a striking example of southern architecture. It was an important commercial center for the caravan route that used to connect Marrakech to Timbuktu. After lunch, you will continue on the track further south crossing the spectacular Anti-Atlas Mountains with its rock formations, then another interesting drive alongside the palm-Valley of Draa before reaching Zagora, which is our final destination of the day.

You will go for the cam trek experience in the pebbly desert before getting to our camp by the sand dunes. You will have a warm welcome by the staff members, enjoy your dinner under the stars or inside our tented restaurant before having time for entertainment. Spend the night in your private tent or under the stars.

Day 2: Zagora - Ouarzazate - High Atlas - Marrakech

Early wake in the morning, climb up the nearby hill to attend the miraculous sunrise view. After that, you will have breakfast under the sunlight before continuing on the trackback to Marrakech following the same route. We will include (if you wish) a visit to the Atlas Film Studios in the city of Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) as the region has been used as a backdrop for shooting numerous films including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, Sahara…etc.

Drive through the impressive Atlas Mountains and include lunch along with many short breaks to chill out and take pictures. Arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

The desert trip is not suitable for pregnant & wheelchair users
Please note the road can be blocked during the winter due to the snowfall or heavy rains, as a result, taking another route through Agadir is the main alternative. We highly recommend not to book the desert trip if your flight is scheduled for the next day.
Please note we will drop you off in your hotel but if it happens you are staying in a Riad within the walls of the Medina that is inaccessible to the car, we will liaise with your Riad staff members to escort you so that you can avoid the hassle.
